Well since i am back in Germany....we get bombarded with holidays which surely is a good thing, eg. compared to the states ;)

I was always sad that eg. in the states even "big" holidays like christmas were reduced to basically ONE day....eg. 25th, no boxing day. Chrstimas...next day work.... No easter-monday etc..etc..

I am in bavaria now and its extreme here since all "catholic" holidays are state-wide official holidays...even compared to other states bavaria has the highest amount of holidays.

I count 13 holidays/year..that is NOt counting all holidays which fall on weekends !

I was thinking about this....and to my incredible amusement just found again that today/tomorrow (mon.) AGAIN it's a holiday....i think the us equivalent would be "passover" ??? Not sure.

Problem....in addtion to the fact that every SUNDAY in EU is basically dead, no shops etc. are open on sundays except overprized gas-stations, cafes and restaurants...of course stores are closed on holidays too. Happened a few times i already i wanted to go out, get some groceries etc. to just to see everything is shut and realizing it must be some holiday, again... ;)

this post actually had promise of being interesting, but in the end it was just confusing. i think most business gives 8-11 days of official holidays

Maybes:
MLK Day (maybe)
Presidents Weekend (Fri-Mon, maybe)
New Years Eve
Good Friday

Pretty much all office workers (i think?)
Memorial
July 4
Labor
Thanksgiving (Thurs and Friday)
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
New Years Day

any others?
