Every morning I'm driving my wife to the train station so we have the morning radio show on.. another topic of interest worth bringing up was holiday tipping. They went into how service people like the ones who park your car in the garage (NYC) send you a holiday card expecting a tip. They had one former mgr call in and say they expected about $20 _per worker_ (multiple workers) for the year in tips. They also keep a list on how much a person tips for the year. Not unexpected I guess, but surprised to hear her admit it.

You also have the mailman who will actually try and get some face-time around this time of year. Or the doorman with a bigger smile... or the barber who will do more careful work.

Who's got someone to pay out and how much are you throwing at them?

Don't these people get annual bonuses at all? I can only imagine how much they rack up with everyone they see on a daily basis... and they have the nerve to complain that this or that person gave them less than others... gotta love service people... so much skill that not anybody off the street can do their job right? They don't have a right to expect tips. But of course they hold the cards in most cases.

Imma give my barber $5 extra bucks like always. I see him like 4x a year for $4 hair cuts. As for the mailman, I have seen so many different ones deliver here.
