"Several Republican lawmakers who are alleged to have been involved in the rally that preceded the deadly riot on the US Capitol have sought clemency from Trump before he leaves office, but after meeting with his legal advisers for several hours on Saturday, the President decided he would not grant them, according to two people familiar with his plans."

In a way, I'm sad he didn't pardon them, because now it's harder for prosecutors to have a field day.

Trump listened to advice?

Not really, one typically doesn't recognize that an expert liar is lying, at leas not at first. If his lips are moving you know he's lying.

Yeah, having Trump as one of the guards would make solving the two door riddle so much easier:

I should warn you, One of us always Tells the Truth, and One of us always lies. "But he's Donald Trump, so you must always tell the Truth"

Lol! ... It's being reported that a limo is parked out front of the jail Joe Exotic is being held....

My speculation at this point is that Trump has issued a self-pardon and a group of pardons to his family and close advisors. But he has ordered the Justice Department not to release the information. In a couple of days, the Justice Department will no longer be answering to Trump and there will be a belated public statement that the pardons were issued.

It's my understanding (but correct me if I'm wrong) Constitutionally speaking, he doesn’t need to inform the Justice Department about the pardons. All he needs is a reliable witness to the pardons (say, a sympathetic notary public) who can confirm their authenticity and time of issuance, if/when they are revealed to the public.

A “secret pardon” is exactly the kind of thing Trump would do. So he just keeps this in his pocket until/if he’s charged with any federal crimes, and then he goes on television and dramatically pulls it out for the cameras and says he knew that the corrupt Biden Administration would pursue a political prosecution of himself and his children, so he beat them at their own game! It’s everything Trump loves – good television, exploiting loopholes, and considering himself the WINNNER! It’d turn any trial into even more of a circus and delay any final justice for years as the validity of the pardon is litigated. At this point I’d be surprised if he doesn’t do this.

Yeah, feds go after one of trumps buds and they pull out a trump pardon card.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, CNN reports Bannon is on the list.
I know it would get tested in court if he self-pardoned, however pardoning your co conspirators sure sounds a lot like a self pardon too... can it be tested ?

Update: 12am inauguration day 2021.

Trump has pardoned some 143 so far within the last 12 hours. No surprise really.... We knew Donald Trump's departure was not going to be pretty. Trump came in like a beast and Trump will go out like a beast. The beast from hell. And sure.... we are pissed at the pardons but consider this.... in a way I feel sorry for "some" of these pardoned crooks because "some" of them would not need a pardon in the first place had they never known Donald Trump. Some of these crooks were corrupted "BY" Donald Trump where as if Trump were never president then just maybe "some" of them would have remained law-abiding citizens. They definitely were worse off for knowing Donald Trump, and so..... it is only fair that maybe they get pardoned? ANYWAY.... that's one way of looking at it.

And here is another way to look at it. Lets pretend that THE PRICE for Joe Biden becoming president and thus the humiliation of Donald Trump in losing the presidency were a crap load of last minute Trump pardons? What if THE PRICE America must pay for a president Joe Biden were last minute Trump pardons of crooks, gypsies, tramps and thieves? Would not that price be worth it? Worth it to rid America of a president Donald Trump?

Sometimes one must hold their nose and swallow the medicine in order to rid ones self of the illness. I say, hold your nose and let Donald Trump pardon anyone and everyone he wants to pardon JUST AS LONG as the illness of Donald Trump is cured by his leaving the Whitehouse. Trump can pardon, Trump can take the drapes off the walls, Trump can pocket the Whitehouse silverware, no one should really care as long as Donald Trump is never ever never again president of the United States of America. And I believe Moscow Mitch agrees with that one.

Looks like Trump is, among other things, in a roundabout way dealing pardons for hush-ups. It seems he's cleaning up loose ends on his way out, or at the least attempting to. Without any sense of morals and ethics to keep him leashed to humanity, there's nothing to keep this, this aberrant soulless crime lord from doing something, anything to keep his ass out of prison.

It seems like it. Bribes of some sort. Maybe not explicit hush money, but people who wield corrupt power. It may not be the threats they pose but rather the opportunities they create, for example being instrumental in ensuring someone wins a political campaign. This is a major part of mafia type operations. Someone with the opportunity to do damage instead gets handed a poison apple for their cooperation. Install them in an important post. But now you have the goods on them and can come calling time and time again for little favors which they will happily oblige or else you ruin them.

I am very surprised he has not pardoned Putin yet. Very much against his character.

No Tiger King pardon? ... That guy has a limo to catch

The pardons are in. 143 of them.

That is only $286M. Nowhere close to what he needs to get out of the red.
