Damn, thats quite a bit. I got mine yesterday, its $819 for 6-months if I pay it off at once, about $900 if I dont. How old are you? I would recommend getting insurance through AAA, thats what I did. My rate would have been lower, but I had an accident end of last year that caused it to increase.

Insurance is expensive... Mine is finally coming down, I pay about $600 every 6 months now.... a lot better than the $2100 it used to be!

$540 every 6 months here for full coverage. My suggestion would be to get a less dangerous vehicle, or start shopping for new insurance. Unless you have a really bad record, of course.

ouch! $233 a month, that's terrible.

when i first got my car when i was 18, i was paying $200/mo through geico. now I pay $70 a month for a 92 jeep cherokee through USAA, and I'm 22. do you have family in the military? USAA has good prices from what I've seen.

I'm 23. Insurance on new cars can get high. If I were you, I would start comparing prices at other places. Most of them you can do it online like geico and statefarm.

I think he meant a month;)

I pay for me and my wife $181 a month for both of us ages 24/22.

If you get married it will go down big time, and when you turn 25 it will go down significally again..

Time to shop around for some insurnace...

I'm 19 and my insurance is ~1050 every 6 months. However, I have 6 speeding tickets and 1 accident on my record (f'n ice, damn Texas weather :| )

Is this full coverage or liability? I'd find the cheapest liability you can get if you're really concerned about being broke.

Your insurance is so low because all you have is liability..

If you are paying on a car you MUST have FULL COVERAGE...

You're probably on your parents policy.

Also, raise your deductibles if they are low. Insurance is to protect you against what you can't handle on your own, so it's unwise to pay a high insurance premium to have a $100 deductible when you could save money with a $500 deductible. Ask your agent what the difference would be if you raised it.

New York/New Jersey has one of the most expensive insurance rate in the country. From what I experienced, AllState rate is pretty pricey as well.

Kansas City, MO
2 Cars, two drivers (my wife and myself), both over 25
Each car runs about $60/month for insurance, probably $125 total.
1 accident, 5 months ago, hit and run (they hit us, not the other way around :) ), didn't increase the rate at all.

I think we use American Family.

<edit>
These figures are for comprehensive coverage. My car has a $1000 deductible, my wife's has a $250 deductible.
