2.1Ghz tbred-b/1GB RAM/6800GS(@~Ultra)/Asus A7V8X mobo

I know it's ancient, but i'd like to squeeze a bit more out of it, happy with my older games so that's not an issue right now.

Readyboost doesn't seem to help either.

you probably need more ram....but then again I would imagine that immature drivers could be the problem as well.

I would go back to XP for now. Vista's drivers are pretty bad at the moment.

My test unit is an HP d530

Vista RC2
2.8Ghz P4 HT
2.0GB Ram
ATI 9700 Pro (Driver: 8.31.100.321 - Dec 5, 2006)

I have to strip out the candy if running 1280x1024 but it runs smoothly at 1024x768; the biggest bottleneck here being the PCI 9700Pro. Haven't tried the new drivers yet.

The ATI Vista drivers have work fine for me. I haven't had a single hiccup w/my Vista install though everyone else I know have graphics or audio issues with their Vista runs.

My only guess as to why mine has been trouble free is that it's a business class workstation. It's likely that Microsoft made sure they wrote first the business end of their offering and will catch up with the consumer variants.

The Nvidia Vista drivers seem to have pretty poor performance atm. ATI's are relatively faster, unless you try OpenGL games. Hopefully things will get better in a few weeks.
