I have a "store credit" card for Home Depot from a return I made after making a purchase with gift cards. Can I use a "store credit" card to purchase a gift card? I have $165 in credit, and want a $50 gift card for a present.

A call to Home Depot would net you the right answer on the first try.

As a home depot employee, no, store credit and other gift cards can not be used to buy a gift card,it will refuse the payment.

that sucks. if I bought it with a GC, they should have to give me a GC on a refund.

store credit and gift cards are the exact same thing, different print on the card. Gift cards can not be bought with gift cards either.
