Might be a little more expensive and the companies may actually like us throwing away some of the peanut butter so we buy again sooner, so I'm not sure this will take off.

That's not a bad idea, but I'll be surprised if companies do it...the added production costs might add anywhere from a couple of cents to <OMFG!> 10-15 cents per jar!!

I like the idea, as getting peanut butter on my hand when fishing at the bottom of the jar is a pain. Yeah the problem is that the jar will be much more expensive to produce so it isn't likely to be adopted.
