Is this going to be online or on TV somewhere? I seem to remember it being on TV when FotR came out. (don't want to click the link here...)

The book wasn't bad. Tedious writing, but a good story.

You want bad? Try reading Ayn Rand.

"I hope it's better than that book."
I know it was writen as a children's book but I think Pete will stick to it and step it up a notch:)

I hope it's better than that book.

Probably will be. The Hobbit was really written for children and LOTR for more mature readers. But I'd think PJ will want the movies to be thematically and stylistically similar.

Are all the dwarves going to be comic relief? :D

I still have to find a movie adaptation that does justice to what was written in the book. Because of time constraints, some scenes/chapters will be obviously shorted/deleted. Hopefully the 2 parts that will be shown serves as fitting back story to the LOTR series.

yeah, mostly based on my experience with LoTR--which are also written for children. pretty shitty books, really.

Awesome movies, though.

Fear and loathing in las vegas. Of course, it's a really short book.

i sort of liked the movies. PJ direction didnt do it for me in a number of places, but i loved the props, scenery and (mostly) the actors and didnt mind some of the adjustments they made from the book.

i like parts of the book, but i skip past most of the songs/poetry and the long-winded descriptions of things.

love the hobbit, should be a good movie...kinda nervous to see what gets changed from the book, however.

So I guess I should wait a year to see it, once they've finished issuing the regular edition, director's cut, holiday edition, special edition, 3d edition, director's cat's cut edition, and the director's cut holiday 3d HD iEdition, so I can finally just get the extended edition and be done with it.

Ugh, the trailer is just confirming my fear that Jackson has gotten too much control over the editing process, and this is likely to be a complete mess like King Kong was. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but the Hobbit didn't need 2 movies in the first place so that's a bad sign right there.

Have you tried to choke 'Wheel of Time' down?

I'll have to look for some of the best pipeweed the shire has to offer when it comes out.
