ho here remember SAMBO`s restaurant?

We use to call it something else but we will not go there!!
I can remember growing up and spending almost every Friday evening eating dinner there!!

Had to even look something up regarding those, where several down here I remember from the 70's. I thought Denny's bought a lot of them, I think the one on US19 I remember still is a Dennys.

Ate in one in New Jersey when I was a kid ... don't remember much other then the sign.

Hell yes...they were everywhere here on the left coast when I was growing up. Just another Denny's type of restaurant.

I always thought the furor over the name was stupid...and sort of ironic, given that the base story line was about an Indian (dot) kid, not black people...

They were a good place to eat late night after a night out. Sad they made them close up over a stupid perceived name problem.
