I have 2 backup harddrives in my computer that really run for no reason at all, all thats stored on them is muisc and ISO's.

My question how can I only make the harddisk that my OS is on be used ??

The simplest solution might be simply to unplug them from the bus. :p If you really don't want to open up your case, there might be something in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management... but I'm not sure. I'd just disconnect them if you really never use them. Even take them out and put them in an anti-static bag on a dark dry shelf. :)

There are much more cost effective ways of storing data if you do not want to use them for the data on them.

The thing is I don't play games all the time so I dont need that hard drive spinning when I'm just browsing the net ect...The same foes for all my MP3's, I play some music sometimes and I love the idea of having all my CD's backed up.

They has got to be a way for windows to stop the hard drives from running until I try and access information or files from them

Control Panel -> Power Options -> Turn off hard disks: After 3 minutes -> Apply -> Ok.
