Ho do I make windows shut down unused hard disk ??

I have 2 backup harddrives in my computer that really run for no reason at all, all thats stored on them is muisc and ISO's.

My question how can I only make the harddisk that my OS is on be used ??

The simplest solution might be simply to unplug them from the bus. If you really don't want to open up your case, there might be something in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management... but I'm not sure. I'd just disconnect them if you really never use them. Even take them out and put them in an anti-static bag on a dark dry shelf.

There are much more cost effective ways of storing data if you do not want to use them for the data on them.

The thing is I don't play games all the time so I dont need that hard drive spinning when I'm just browsing the net ect...The same foes for all my MP3's, I play some music sometimes and I love the idea of having all my CD's backed up.

They has got to be a way for windows to stop the hard drives from running until I try and access information or files from them

Control Panel -> Power Options -> Turn off hard disks: After 3 minutes -> Apply -> Ok.
