Apparently CBC is holding a contest for the new theme. Anyone can submit an entry for the new theme (written/composed + recorded) and the prize is $100k.

Stupid CBC. Oh well. They're only airing two games a week during the regular season, and they have some weird formula to decide which games they get in the playoffs and which ones TSN ends up with.

If CTV could manage to buy HNIC from CBC, the CBC would be done. That's a crown corp for you.

By the way, is it just me, or does there seem to be a huge # of Canadian themed threads on ATOT lately?

I'll miss it, but will watch HNIC despite it. The Songwriter/Rights Holder decided he wanted a huge increase in Royaly. The CBC has better places to spend their $$.

Yea, that probably would spell the death of CBC, although I must admit some of their new shows in the last few years (Intelligence, Little Mosque on the Prairie, etc.) have been quite good - maybe that's keeping them afloat. If this deal had happened 5 or 10 years ago, I would have said that would be the end for CBC as they had few other good assets then besides HNIC.

By the way, is it just me, or does there seem to be a huge # of Canadian themed threads on ATOT lately?

I didn't notice, but that could be because I've only been back on the boards for a few days after a long absence (away traveling). Anyways, we all have to stick up for the Canadian minority around here I say!

CBC has much better quality in terms of HD and their commentators
CBC has Don Cherry which is OK


TSN is meh, I only watch it when CBC doesnt have a game on
TSN has a nice panel which is pretty good
TSN covers mostly American teams

Biggest thing I have against TSN is how retarded Pierre Mcguire is

I don't really care about the jingle. If CBC loses the hockey coverage, then it would be epic fail. I hate CTV.

The only thing I watch on CBC is HNIC, the news, and the occasional Simpson's repeat.

I must say I was quite saddened when I heard they were dropping the HNIC theme, it's a classic. It won't stop me from watching though, that's for sure. I'll be interested to hear what the replacement tune ends up being.
