HMO vs. PPO... which do you have?

i pay about twice as much for my family to be on PPO
my wife doesn't like to be told what doctor to use or see different doctors each time, so it is worth it for us

if you don't mind herd medicine/clinic style, then save the money and do the HMO

*EDIT*

oh, you want to know differences

PPO is basically traditional insurance, you can go to any doctor, if you go to a doctor that participates, they cover a higher percentage of the cost

HMO is a clinic type situation, you go to an assigned doctor office but might see any doctor that is working there , maybe a different doctor each visit, you don't have a choice. if you need to see a specialist, the HMO has to approve and again, they tell you who to go to, you cannot choose

Having a family would be different. I haven't been to the doctor in about 3 or 4 years, so having a PPO is totally not worth it.

In simplest terms:

HMO - network and referral necessary
PPO - network maybe, no referral necessary
