My Sirius year prepaid on my PnP Kenwood unit runs out the middle of December and im getting a new car in 6 months (with XM or Sirius integrated depending on which manuf. i get).

I wanted to get a new PnP because unfortunately my mounting options are limited with the Kenwood unit (top of dash, top of dash, or how about, top of dash) and i needed a change.

The dilemma insues;

1) Sirius XACT - $160, or possibly $84 if they don't realize its not a second unit after mid dec (1 year of service included) -
2) XM Skyfi2 - $119 (6 months of service included)

Both can be mounted to my airvent (which is really my only feesable location other than, yep, you guessed it, top of dash)

Which should i do? Which would you do? I'm happy with sirius, very happy indeed. But something inside me wants to maybe try something new for a little bit. Spice it up some :)

Sirius, simply because Clear Channel owns a small portion of XM. Clear Channel is so evil they make satan look like a playful kitten.

Ok, not even a question.

Swung by CC this morning for the mp3 player on sale and came across the Skyfi2. What a HORRIBLE screen that POS has. Not only was it faint/hard to read, but the LCD was streaky and uneven. I tried adjusting the contrast, no luck, same thing. I also thought it may have just been that particular one, but on they way out they had another near the door and it was just as bad.

Looks like i'll be staying w/ sirius :)

I've never used Sirius but if you like rock music, especially classic rock or even 90s rock, avoid XM. They do not have a single good rock station (their closest is "Top Tracks" which will mix in real crap music half the time).

We used to have a normal boombox at work which I could play the local rock station and it was great, now we have that XM crap and it pisses me off.

Just stick with Sirius. Pay for your 1 year again in December when it comes up for renewal. When you get the new car in 6 months, call them and give them the new number on that receiver and they shut off your old receiver and activate the one built into the car. There will not be an activation fee for this.
