Do they need to be in CDA format? I was under the impression that the two were pratically the same thing. Guess I thought wrong

What did you use to burn the CD? Most CDwriting software will automatically convert wavs to cdas when you create an audio cd. You can dl the trial of Nero if you need new burning software.

There is a big difference between writing WAV's to a CD as CD audio & writing them as a WAV file.

Just specify to your CD burning program that you're making an audio CD, & when you drag over audio files (WAV, MP3, etc) it should convert them automatically when burned.

my adaptec easy cd creator cd is lost in the jungle I call my bedroom. All I had on my computer was DirectCD which lets you use the CDRW drive as a drag-and-drop device. I converted my mp3's to wav's and then copied them to the cd.

I already know that but from what my unintelligent friend told me, CD tracks are WAV's. Using [un]sensible logic, I theorized that copying wav's to the drive would achive the same effect as if I had clicked "Create CD" in Easy CD Creator.

Nope, not the same.

The data is stored in essentially the same manner, but the file system is different. Hence the reason a stand-alone CD player won't read a disc full of WAV's.
