Hmmm, wait for a new iPod to be released or just buy one?

Currently have a 4gb nano... While I love the size, rather than tote it with myself as I originally had planned, it now sits in my glove compartment box nearly all the time hooked into my Pioneer Premier headunit...

As most of my collection is now Apple Lossless, it's gotten to the point where i can't fit all to many cd's on my ipod (at 300-600mb per cd, you can see why).

I'm debating, should i sell the 4gb nano and pick up a 30gb or 60gb ipod video, or hold off till this years revisions are released...

If you can live without the nano sell it while it's still worth something, then buy an ipod once it's revised later this year.

What about keeping all of your lossless files backed up, but put 320kbps aac files on your ipod? Seems like sound quality is important to you, but I really truly doubt 320kbps files would sound THAT bad.

i suggest waiting. when i first wanted to buy my mini, i debated and waited a bit. a week later, the 2G came out which was cheaper and better. i plan on getting the new ipod once it comes out. a new one should come out this year (apple has to) and then i'll buy it. i suggest you wait. there's now point in buying now if a new one is coming around the corner soon.

While that would be ideal, i don't really like having to keep multiple copies at different bitrates.... I would kinda prefer to just keep everything lossless...

True, but im in the car 2.5 ~ 3 hours a day.... i'd just prefer to keep everything with me.

<--Waiting too

14.26 GB of mixed LAME preset extreme and Apple Lossless music on a U2 iPod (a little more than a thousand songs total).
