Hmmm...should I do wireless or wired outdoor speakers?

I'm trying to decide whether the hassle of trying to run speaker wire outside is worth it or not. We're having a fence built and I thought it would be nice to be able to pipe some music or baseball games outside while I'm working or playing with my son.

I can get a pair of Advent AW820 speakers for ~$60. They only have 10 watts per channel but I'm not looking to blow the neighborhood away. I could also use them in different parts of the house/yard if I so choose.

Or I can get something like this rock speaker which provides pretty decent power and is aesthetically nice but again, the hassle of trying to run wire to the outside of my house.

Decisions, decisions....

Wire it. If it's mostly grass from the speaker location to your home, it's easy. Dig a trench, lay pvc, run cable through pvc, cover, plant grass.

We did it, love having good music outside.

We went with the Klipsch HS-1 ceiling mounted in the covered patio. We also have a passive subwoofer from our old stereo sitting on the joists of the covered patio.

Its run off of a 100wx2 Kenwood stereo receiver. We have the outputs on our DVD/CD changer split between the Kenwood and our indoor home stereo, so that when we have a party, we have the same music inside and outside. 😀

We did the pre-wiring when we built the house, anticipating that we would want a set-up similar to this.

EDIT
I guess to actually ANSWER the question you asked.....I would run the wires.
