Depends on whether some bugs can be ironed out or not w/ Dpad but i might be open for recruitement 😉 (at least until the dpad client is finalized..i.e. v 5.xx)

i need something that could work very well on dialup ( 1 p3 450, 1 p4 1.8 ghz...i.e. something that could just be left alone for a while)...and the others (1700 Xp, 1.2 ghz t-bird, 1.8 ghz p4) have broadband so not as important (as long as CLIENT can run in the background)...

umm ideas? i dont want to do the encryption ones..

preferably something scientific/ beneficials (much like dpad is)...

is D2OL back on track? i.e. did they get a new owner or something. b/c a few weeks back d20l was basically dead..now it seems to be alll fixed?

 
D2OL is back on track. They haven't had any noticable crashes for a while.

Also, they just added a target for SARS, so at least we know they are doing some work over there!
 
what did they do? did they overhaul the whole system? b/c i know TSC got entirely new parents....so sengent is still runing d20l...


glad to hear its back on track. sounds like a good project...but lemme guess, it requires a constant open pipe


right now i'm running old faithful (SOB)[name: TitoTacos]...i think that SOB has been the nicest, most well behaved client i've experienced...

It doesn't require a constant open pipe, it connects whenever there is a connection.
You can download 100 candidates and then go offline.
It does seem to be running well now (fingers crossed), they changed some hardware last week 😀
No significant downtime so far this weekend 😀😀😀

also, isn't d2ol the ONE project where TA doesn't need any help b/c there is a huge amount of ppl already part of the team 😉
 
We only have about 25-30 people flushing daily now adays, but we still kick arse. 😀 Our mission is to find a cure for SARS right now, and thats more important to us than what team, project, percentages, total stats, or whatever comes to mind. If our contributions can save some lives what better goal. Of course it isnt the only project with that intent but the only one working on a outbreak of a potential killer of millions in a very short period of time.

Maybe it will help in finding a cure for SARS any sooner than the estimate of 2-3 years now thought of by the scientists.

Since D2OL started with the SARS targets, I've fired up my D2OL clients again. As MT said, it is a virus, that has the possibility of killing millions.
Just look at the rate of spreading and the amount of deceased people in a relative short time.
 
aye. i was getting the impression that ~100 ppl were in D20l as TA members at the very least.

Agreed, whatever you run, you should run Chessbrain on the side. It's cool. 😎 As far as doing a scientific project, my vote is for Distributed Folding, but the server is currently being upgraded or something.

SOB is currently crunching on 2 pcs. DPAD on 2 more where it hasn't errored out yet.

any way i can queue multiple K's and N's say on pcs w/ a dialup connection?
