Well... I was sick and tired of seeing the darn AMD banner ad to the left. So I sat here and thought for a minute how could I make the madness stop!? I checked the source code and found where the ad was coming from... blocked it with my D-link Router/Firewall. And... Voila! 😀

Awsome, maybe because of you, AMD will decide to quit giving Anandtech ad money, and the site will shut down! That IS cool!

Aww, that brought a tear to my eye.. Perhaps after my Comcast cable internet gets turned on this Monday I'll re-edit my hosts file to allow the ad.

I wouldn't have had the motivation to do this if they didn't have animated and very annoying flashy advertisements distracting you while you read. If it wasn't animated I most likely could care less if it shown or not 🙂

The previous text advertisements were far more useful... and less intrusive.

There's still something in the ad space. For me it says "Advertisement" and the gray space underneath is completely blank.

Note: no, I did not do this. I have no direct control over the firewall.

For those of us that are too dense to figure out ow to do that (read: me) care to explain the process? If the add wasn't animated I wouldn't care, still want the forum to get credit for the add displaying though.

i clicked thru, suprisingly i got no results when i searched amd's site for 'squirrel' but 5 for 'bubble'.

Try right clicking the ad and unchecking "Loop"
