Having just played through Call Of Duty 4. I have to say i was unimpressed.. An average short single player game with average graphics.. Nothing special i'm not sure what all the hype is about!
If you want my advice.. Wait for Battlefield: Bad Company, a much better game in my opinion.

Yea they were ok, but they didn't stand out to me, there were a few nice touches, but looked a bit like a slightly refreshed and polished Half-Life to me.
Maybe they come alive in HD or something i dunno.

Pretty much what blurred said:
for single player: Orange Box,
for multiplayer: COD4.
Both are great games and worth owning.

If you're playing your PS3 or 360 on a SD television then you are definitely missing out.
Edit: This holds true for all PS3/360 games.

Yea i really get the feeling i'm missing out by not having HD, but i can't justify the cost just to play games for a few hours a week, if that..

I didn't think so either until I got a 26 incher from Costco for $400.

It was in my opinion. Considering a 27" SDTV will cost you $300. I don't sit very far away from it, so the size is more than adequate. I also use it with an HTPC, and the VGA input is nice. And it has a QAM tuner - with CABLE TV that'll get you the networks in HD for free, no cable box needed. I definitely don't regret it. I don't know that I'd recommend a 26" if you're sitting ~8 feet away from your TV though.

I have a 42", and I sit about 5 ft away from it when gaming.
