OK,

a firend is on his way over after trying to install windows on his new computer......

There seems to be a BIOS password being asked for at bootup.
They have no idea why that is or what that passowrd may be.

First question , is there a way to reset a motherboard
by like pulling the battery or something ?

Is there an easy way to reset this BIOS password?

I have no clue yet as to the type of mother board, all I know is it is a new computer received on Friday.

You may have already done this, but check the manual that came with the MB or the manufacturer website. For example, my MB, an Asus CUSL2-C, provides for such an occurance.

Good Luck....

Well, the computer isn't here quite yet but I would be surprized if there was a manual with it.

I'll figure out the type of board and then search online for the manual and the solution to the bios password.

Once you get the motherboard, check on the manufacture's website and see if you can find a manual online. Look for the option to clear the CMOS. Good luck.

If it is a new computer - why are you messing with it - call the dealer or whoever you bought it from. I find this strange since this "new" computer may be a used.
