strange problem:

i installed the 4 in 1 drivers in "standard" mode(which forces 1x) and everything is fine

but if i install them in "turbo" mode(which allows 4x) all 3d proggies crash

i know for a fact that both my video card and motherboard support 4x

i have tested all the 6.xx and 7.xx drivers and games still crash in 4x mode, but all drivers are fine in 1x mode

whats the deal? hmmm maybe i need a power supply larger then 250w?

I got the same problem with halflife. What are your system specs?

I've got
Athlon 700
Abit KA7
128mb PC133
Geforce DDR

BTW: I've got a 300w Sparkle, its no different.

Do you have fastwrites enabled in your mobo BIOS? If you do disable it and you should be stable at 4X

The AGP system in VIA chipsets is a reverse engineering of the Intel specs. Therefore there were lots of problems with the first tries, and there still may be some bugs. It could be that your particular brand of card is not compatible with the motherboard and drivers. Have you tried setting it to only 2X AGP? 4X is the most problematic, even when 2X works fine.

fastwrite is disabled for sure

games crash with fastwrite AND/OR 4x active

how can i set it to use 2x?

the only BIOS setting for 4x is enabled or disabled

so should i install the 4 in 1's in turbo mode then disable 4x in the BIOS?

cause if i install them in standard mode the max supported would be 1x no matter what the BIOS is set to

correct?

Yes, JimmyCap I would recommend that.
Wasn't there an older version of the super south bridge that had problems? It could be from that.
