hmm...were getting another parakeet!

Last month one of our two parakeets who were born 7 years ago at home passed away. He (Kiwi) was born handicapped with a leg that wouldnt bend properly so its pretty surprising he lived that long. Well the other one named Gooseberry Jr. (after his father) is getting lonley so we are going to get him a friend. Anyone know any good petshops in the Sunnyvale/San Jose area to get Parakeets? Any ideas on what to look for, when i bought my first parakeet Gooseberry Sr. I just picked the fattest bright green one i saw 😛...

Ahh the memories. I had 2 parakeets and they just recently passed away a couple months ago. They were about 9 years old. Some of the best pets I ever had.

Awww, I lvoe birds 🙂 I have a Talking Lory (http://www.knology.net/~rbloedow/Steve/Dscf0038.jpg), his name is Sabastion, but my family just calls him "Pidy" 🙂 He talks a lot too. When someone knocks on the door, he says "Come in", and he says "give me kiss" and makes a kissing sound, he also says "What are you doing?", "What's Up?", "Shut Up", "Stop", "Stop it", "pretty bird", "Come Here", "hey baby", and last but not least, his new phrase: "Shut the fvck up" (my sisters boyfriend taught him that) 🙂 He also likes to hump things, and can be found in the bottom of his cage getting it on with his favorite crayola markers if he isn't being entertained by one of us (I think he like the red one the most). He also builds nests out of the newspaper and cedar chips that are on the bottom of his cage, he sleeps under the paper at night.

Anyway, enough about my bird. I hope your old one likes the new fellow 🙂

well make sure to get the right sex, u don't want babies.

u can tell by their um beak thing color😛

i find them boring, but thats just me. mostly cuz i don't feel like building a giant aviary in the back yard. letting em lose in teh house is a no no, they don't knkow how to stop pooping.

parakeets are cool. used to have a pair a long time ago and they made 2 little parakeets (which we ended up giving away after they grew up)

they make great pets
