I guess most of you would say to go with the Zalman, but if I get the Zalman, I'll have to use thermal adhesive to permanently attach the old northbridge heatsink. But if i get the Vantec, i'll have the option to use thermal tape to slap the heatsink that comes with it on to the southbridge.

Opinions please?

I would still get the Zalman, the extra fan is just more noise. Then, if you really think it is necessary to cool your southbridge, mix the thermal paste and thermal adhesive to get a weaker bond that should be removable. Or, try to pick up a piece of thermal tape somewhere. Are you concerned with a permanant solution because of a warranty?

I'm just worried that the next time if I sell off this board I could plug back the stock heatsink and reuse the Zalman/iceberg whichever i would buy.

Where can i get thermal tapes?? If i could find some of these i'll definitely go for the zalman.

i'll go with zalman. i do know where to get the thermal tapes, but they sell it in bulk costing $100(which i guess turns off your attention in wanting to buy it)

There are many places that see thermal tape. The only problem is it would be like $2.50 for the tape and $6 shipping. You could just buy a new Zalman for that.

whoa..never thought of that.. 2 zalmans for NB and SB!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

-prayer- momma forgive me for spending on these two zalmans. It's just a lunch skipped. Forgive me forgive me.
