Hmm... so what's next after FFX for PS2?

I purchased the Playstation 2 a few months ago via the Virgin Megastore deal. I have most of the big name games (MGS2, GTA3, FFX) and I'm almost done with FFX. So... what's next? I know there's still good titles currently in the store, like Devil May Cry, but looking at a listing of upcoming releases, nothing seems to peak my interest. At first I thought FFXI might, but I think they're gonna charge a monthly fee to play it online, which I currently don't plan on doing. What's supposed to be the next big game?

i was thinking about buying metal gear. but my friend told me he rented it and beat it entirely in 2 days, so screw buying that....

Jak & dax is good, but not so long. Frogdog finished bgda today. He liked it but for him it was only 14 hours. Ace Combat 4 is a great title supposedly...I always check editors choice link at ps2.ign.com I suppose upcoming State of Emergency (creators of GTA3) looks like a good one.

Jak and Daxter just screams "Rent me!" to me, and not much else. Maximo looks like a decent game, but I tend not to buy many 1P action games. Is there any upcoming baseball game (yeah I know we're out of season right now) that's getting decent press?

Trust me, Jak and Daxter is a great game, read some reviews on it. The game world is pretty big, with a lot of stuff to explore, and it just has a great atmosphere.. I'm really liking it. My next game after this is State of Emergency.

Yeah, State of Emergency looks like it'll be a riot. *groans*

Hahaaaa, but seriously, the game looks like a lot of fun, will probably be my next purchase. GTA3 is still keeping me hooked after 4 weeks. I just can't... put... the... controller.... down. Phew.

GTA3 has excellent replayability; i swapped with frogdog for MGS2 for a while (I've not played that). J& Dis a good rental if only because it's a short play, but it is a solid game if you like that genre.

I personally didn't care for devil may cry. If anybody tells me it has a plot i'll kick their ass right now. It was just one unstrung level after the next. The action was good and the graphics top-shelf, but other than that the game was just a haphazard level after the next and when I came upon my first major obstacle I guiltlessly stopped playing. Thankfully it was only a rental. I'm about 1/4 through FFX now. It's linear as all hell. In fact it's straighter than a straight line, but the story is enough to keep me playing so it's not so bad.

Would you believe it? I just beat Jak & Daxter, and I only bought it last Sunday. :D I loved that game, too bad it wasn't longer. Why are PS2 game so freaking short? Anyone, this one is going back tomorrow, any suggestions? That Ace Combat 4 looks good, what is that like, anyone tried it? I've never played a flying game, so that sounds like it could be fun. I would try BG: DA, but I'm pretty sure I could beat that in a rental. DOA2 looks fun too.

Skoorb, I agree about Devil May Cry, I couldn't get into it. I played until mission 4, and then took it back. The game felt very cold, no atmosphere. Plus it was HARD! I gave up after failing in mission 4 where you have to fight 3 freaking bosses in a row.

FFXI. I started playing the Final Fantasy series just for that game. I'm still on 7, unfortunately.
