My SMP system is of course, more expensive, but looking at the gateway server, the only thing i would want is the motherboard, but its integrated video and lack of AGP port killed the deal for me. i mean, the scsi drive i would ebay as would the ram and everything, and the case. oh well. i guess its a good deal for just a server by itself. im coming from the gamer standpoint. heres my system: [though its more expensive]

[1]Rioworks PDVIA-LS from ebay - $150
- integrated intel lan
- dual u160 channels
- p3 smp w/ apollo 133a chipset
- *ONLY* ata66 dual channel. no ata100. =) jk.
[2]P3 700@933@1.65 w/ Gorbs from Steve - $265

while it has u160 channels, im just going to tack on my fasttrak raid till then. the hard drive wil be a atlas 10k II most likely..

well, i guess you get alot of stuff with the gateway deal, but for someone whos upgrading, i didnt really want all that stuff. it just more stuff to sell. i hate selling stuff. oh well. but its a good deal to those who werent upgrading, but just want a stand alone server.

i have no idea why i posted this.

At the time, it was a good deal. Someone priced out the system, and it was worth if for someone wanting that exact configuration.

For me, it was an issue of not really needing the system.

Well, you're coming at it from a gamer's standpoint. A server has much different needs, and those don't include an AGP port. As of right now, there isn't a big difference using two processors for gaming anyways.
