hmm painkillers only put you to sleep...

I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday and my doctor gave me like the maximum dosage of tylenol3 I believe. 30mg of codeine/300mg of APAP. After I took 2 yesterday I could barely stand up and focus at all(don't get all the fuss over painkillers). still the pain didn't actually dissappear at all. Going to bed helped etc.

so now I've got a prescription for 28 pills and I've used 2 and the pain is now gone.

seems like I should use these as sleeping pills...

They're essentially the same purpose as sleeping pills. They both work by slowing the central nervous system. Before the advent of modern sleeping pills like Ambien and Lunestra some fairly serious pain pills were used as sleeping aids.

sleeping pills it is. this past week I've spent atleast 1+1/2 to just get to bed

Codeine is more than just a sleeping pill. They don't take all the pain away, but you'd be in a hell of a lot more pain without them.

My ortho gave me some ibuprofen, didn't make me sleepy at all but did get rid of the pain. It was a pain in the ass everytime the painkillers would wear off 🙁

well I wasn't planning to use them all heh. And it numbed it a bit but as the anasthesia wore off I felt all of it and it hurt... a lot I admit. The codeine brought the pain down to the level where I could stand it. I was simply expecting more especially with 60mg...

4? 5? dosage? what's in them? uber painkillers? haha

It really depends on the person. Both my parents react very strongly to most medications. A single Vicodin/T3 will knock my dad unconscious. OTOH, even Percocet barely dulls pain for me and certainly does not put me to sleep.

I had all 4 taken out since it was cheaper that way (200 each for the top teeth and 400 each for the bottom). Two were impacted pretty bad (both were horizontal facing each other) and the other two were normal.

Wasn't too bad, only had to take painkillers for little under a week and I was already eating normally 😛
