Hmm...NFC East playoff picture

The plot has suddenly thickened....with Dallas and Philly both winning today, things suddenly got a little more complex. I was discussing with a friend(he's an Eagles fan, I'm a Cowboys fan). We agreed that it is very probable that next week Philly loses to Carolina and Dallas beats Miami, followed by Dallas losing to Philly, and then both teams winning out the rest of their schedule. This leaves both teams tied at 12-4. Head to head is split. NFC east record is split. Common games record is split. NFC record is split. It will all come down to strength of victory, which we haven't really calculuated yet. Things just got very interesting...

The whole NFC picture is murky. Just like last year, its going to come down to the final week of the season. And some 9-7 teams wont make the NFC playoffs.

If Dallas wins on Thursday, Ill go with them winning the NFC East, and finishing the #1 or #2 seed, likely #2. If Dallas loses on Thursday, I think the Eagles will get the #1 or #2 seed.

This is IMHO who will make the playoffs in the NFC, in no particular order.

Dallas
Philly
Green Bay
St Louis
Carolina
Seattle

And IMHO the three strongest teams would be Dallas, Philly, and Carolina. It could very well come down who wins the NFC South, and the NFC East.

Philly vs Carolina or Dallas vs Carolina.

Everyone knows Dallas, and I understand why, the have troubles vs top 10 defenses(Tampa, New England). But they do have the #1 defense, they will end the season that way.

The Vikings aren't quite out of the picture yet. They had a bad streak of 4 losses but I don't think you can count them out yet

Philly is on a roll. I think they'll beat Carolina but lose to Dallas. Dallas has it tough with a 4 day schedule with two very good teams, don't know about the Miami game. The 10 day week will definetly give them an edge vs Philly though.

This brings back some very fond memories about 7-8 years ago with the infamous Leon Lett screwup in the snow in the THanksgiving game against Miami.

They arent out of it, but I pick the Packers to win the NFC North. Carolina winning the NFC south, with Dallas or Philly and St Louis or Seattle taking the wild cards(and their divisons respectively).

The Pack have an easy time the rest of the season;

Detriot
Chicago
San Deigo
Oakland
Denver

On the other hand the Vikings dont have an easy rest of the season facing 3 teams that could beat them. The Pack will win the NFC North with a 10-6 record, the Vikings will be 9-7, and will miss out on a wild card spot.
