Hmm...just got some pizza...

Had Papa John's (stfu, they're cheap!) delivery a couple pizzas and I paid with a debit over the phone...when the delivery guy got here, he had me sign the receipt. I gave him a few bucks in cash as a tip. I just looked at my copy of it, and realized I forgot to fill in the "tip" and "total amount" fields on the receipt I gave back to him.

Theoretically, he could fill in any amount he'd like and I wouldn't know until I see it appear on my statement.

Should I stay up all night wringing my hands over the possibility of the pizza guy screwing me over, or no? Obviously, he's funding something...it would be all-too-easy....

🙁

I'd be more worried about him copying down your debit number and using it to make purchases.

Nothing you can do now. Except maybe CALL THE PIZZA PLACE! Or wait till you get your statement. I wouldn't sweat it tho.

it is credit card fraud for anyone to add to or alter your credit card reciept. i hardly think anyone would be so stupid as to risk getting arrested for adding a couple of dollars to the bill.

if you are worried, call and ask to speak to the manager. tell him you erred and forgot to put the total and wanted to make sure it was not added to.

Everything but the last four numbers are grayed out. The info is on the computer at the parlor.

I meant when you gave it over the phone. The person could have easily written the number down as you said it.

Well, I can monitor my account online, so I can see when they finally submit the charge immediately. I suppose the best thing to do would be to watch it and call if I see a problem. I was also nice to the guy and handed him a couple bucks as soon as he walked up, so maybe he'll find it in his heart to not be a douche. 😉

True. Especially since, for some reason, she said the # didn't go through and I had to read it back a couple times.

Man, I'm so screwed.

Dude relax. They're not gonna change the amount on the receipt. The guy that owns the Papa Johns is the one that will receive that money from the credit card. I guarrantee you he is making way more money selling pizza than he could defrauding you of your credit card payment. Sometimes you guys are way too paranoid.

No, no...you don't understand. The only thing that could be changed is the amount of tip I would have granted the driver, since I gave him cash instead of specifying the amount on the receipt. All he would have to do is fill in the fields, and it's his. Theoretically.

Dont' worry about it - customers do this to me all the time. I usually scratch through the tip amount for them, and write the total for their own safely and to cover my ass. If you get a tip charge - call the store, remember the date you ordered, and the charge can and will be taken off - and the driver or employee responsible will be terminated.

Nothing you can't take care of - dont' worry. Not everyone is out to screw you - there are lots of honest people out there 🙂
