Hmm, Just got an NFR copy of Win and Office XP pro....

I was under the impression that this version would not ask for a license key.... I got it from MS's World Wide Fulfillment program, and it's very legit just so you know...

Did I miss something?? They didn't send a key with it... The back of the cd Sleeve says I need to call a call center anyway.... What's the deal with that? We have a site license, does that mean they will give me a key that can be used on multiple machines??

With NFR's, you are just buying the media and nothing else. Licensing is through whatever arrangement your company has. There is no 'site' license for Win or Office XP. If you are under MS's Select agreement, your program administrator will have your 'master key' for whatever products you are licensed for. And yes, there is no registration or activation when using one of these keys.

Well I just received the package from ASAP software and opened it myself (You could call me the program administrator after a fashion), but there was NO key at all in the package.... Does this mean I need to call MS anyway with my licensing info to get a key that will work on multiple PC's w/o MS sending in the suits?

If you are entitled to have a key that disables activation, you would already have signed an agreement with Microsoft and the keys would have been provided to your program administrator. You can call them but they will probably refer you to your companies administrator. They don't ship keys with NFR copies of XP.

When I received my MSDN copy of XP, I was expecting a key which allowed 10 activations. I did not receive it because we are a MS Select customer. I had to track down our master key to use it which disables activation completely which is better than the 10 activations I expected. Of course, I could have just copied our MS Select CD but I still needed the code.

Well, Thanks for the help... I will have to talk to some people here and see if anyone has received that key yet...

Yea, they should have received a fax or email that has all of your keys listed - Win XP, Office XP, Visio, whatever. There is also an online site that your administrator can go to that will list the keys. Access to that site is setup via a URL and ID that your MS rep provided your company.
