Hmm, I've enabled Adaptive AA in ATI Tray Tools, but does it work?

Like, if I enable AAA and allow for application-controlled AA, will it work? Or does it have to be driver implemented AA for AAA to work?

Yes, it can. It does with BF2 anyway (which can only have AA set within the game). When it is working it will be very obvious as trees and fences and such will not longer be "jaggy".

AAA is simply another type of AA; if AA is enabled it'll automatically work, regardless of how you enable AA.

Of course it only works in Direct3D games.

And before you start bashing ATI for only having this feature only available in D3D games, remember nVidia's solution isn't available with OpenGL games either.

I wasn't bashing anyone but since you mention it you're right, nVidia's transparency AA only works in Direct3D.

Of course nVidia has 8xAA and 16xAA on single cards that provide super-sampling in OpenGL games, unlike ATi.

Oh no, .1% of titles are banished to fugliness.
I have 50 games installed right now and about half of them either run exclusively or best under OpenGL and most of those titles also run well under 8xAA even at 1920x1440.

Also transparency AA is orthogonal to the super-sampling AA modes which means you can run both at once in Direct3D titles and the effects will stack, providing even greater image quality.

nVidia's massive AA superiority in single card situations is one of the main reasons why I picked up a 7900GTX to upgrade my 7800GT instead of an ATi card.
