Hmm.... Is the original Creative Nomad some kind of uber-device?

I bought one for $65, but I no longer use it. I looked at previous auctions on ebay after hearing my friend actually reccomend one to me when I mentioned I was thinking about getting an iPod. Does this thing have some kind of rare capability that all the ubergeeks out there desire?

Why did these auctions go for so much?

Why did this one go for much less, even though it's NIB?

It's the same thing I have, I even have the box.

Is it because it's flashable? .WAV and .WMA compatibility? EAX? Recording?

I'm so confused. 😕

Well, the first two have music pre-loaded.

Would that really account for the high prices, though? I was actually looking for an auction which ended a lot lower, but I couldn't find one! Am I just really underestimating the value of old 10GB MP3 players of any kind?

i think the software on these things do contribute to the higher prices. for example, when i was looking for an xbox... many ppl were selling their xbox'es with preloaded games and the auctions ended at prices way outta normal xbox prices.

Well, why would the one that was NIB be cheaper?

Maybe because it uses regular batteries?

Putting alkalines in it probably isn't a good idea. Alkaline cells = 1.5v, NiCd/NiMH rechargable cells = 1.2v, so there's quite a voltage leap.

Well, it doesn't state what kind of music is on there, so if the buyers were interested in the music, they'd all have to email him for a playlist or something...

That is true but there are some lazy/inpatient people out there.. I guess having the ability to swap batteries easily is attractive to some.
