Huge national ego . . . maybe too much inferior wine drinking beginning as children.

they once beat most of europe's arse in war so they still think they're a super power. except for the fact that they've lost to everyone from the mexican indians to the germans to the vietnamese to guys on camels in the desert since 1862. oh, and apparently they were the birthplace of the enlightenment so they think they are more advanced on liberal rights than any other state on earth (and by liberal i mean respecting the individual rather than the shade of socialism we americans usually use it to describe).

Police and firefighters now refuse to enter at least 100 "no-go zones"
Holy sh!t. Now there's commitment to one's duty.

and firefighters rarely venture into the many "no-go areas" in tough neighbourhoods for fear they'll be pelted with stones, and worse.
Jesus, then again WTF are these people thinking?

Plenty of them also have shaved heads and wear bomber jackets, and parade in little packs, eyeing outsiders with distrust.
He dreams of entering the army and has no use for Arabs:...
We have to stop immigration and the reverse the migratory flow,..."
Sounds kinda like a certain hate group here in the USA.

...Le Pen can't be a racist because he backs Iraqi President Saddam Hussein
Oh...okay.

Le Pen will go down in flames. I predict he sees no more than 25% of the vote.

<< How could this happen? How could a well-known Holocaust denier, a man who once suggested he would have to marry an African woman with AIDS to prove he is not a racist and nearly lost his seat in the European parliament for a fistfight with a rival, get this far? >>

Take a look at the competition in France.
Even if they went Facist, for them it would be a step in the right direction.

I heard a great quote about France a week or so ago. "France is a great place to go for a vacation, but you wouldn't want to be a young college graduate trying to find a job there."

Above all these social issues, France's economy is in ruins right now. :)

<< "If there is a war," Cécile adds, "it won't be between France and the United States, or France and Russia. It will be a civil war, between different peoples in France, but it will still be a war." >>

Dear god, I can see it now. Both sides surrendering, then starting a whole new war so that the victor can surrender to the other side... it'd be an endless cycle of violence

On a side note, do they think they'd have a chance in hell in a war against the USA?

Trust in France, when it absolutely positively has to be surrendered overnight.

I say we send in Cartman.

It's fun to make fun of the French but there is a good lesson there also.

Be very careful of the socialist dream. It leads down a dark path. Sure it sounds nice with security for all. There are some good ideas and ways to implement them. Carried too far you have the backlash of the people paying for it. When companies can't afford to hire workers, entrepreneurs are discouraged and personal initiative is shut down by the welfare state, pretty soon your country is sitting on the sidelines wondering what the hell happened.

Take this lesson with you to the polls however you care to interpret it.

-What happen?
-Someone set us up the Len Pen!
-get get election.
-what?
-main screen turn on
-Its you!
- Le Pen: How are you gentlemen. All your right wing are belong to us. You are on the way to defeat.
-what you say?
-Le Pen: You have no chance to survive, make your time. ha ha ha.

Yeah, the system is so bad and unprofitable, that must be why the dollar keeps falling against the Euro (btw, a concept first introduced by the French to compete with the US) and for the first time could surpass us by the end of this year.

Keep on your high horse, we'll see who comes out on top in the next decade or so. Americans can be so stupid sometimes.

But we are still not DUMB enough to believe in your pathetic country. So far, what does France lead the world in? The three things that I can think of are stinky cheese, nuclear waste per capita and hyprocracy.
