19" Proview with a Samsung tube. What happened is that there's a yellow haze over the screen, as though it lost one of the pirmary colors. Also, the picture is all squished in from the sides. The geomtry settings don't do anything because it's not the size of the display, but rather the area of the whole screen has collapsed. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but that's the best I can describe it. Before, I can jiggle the computer and everything would return to normal, or if prop up the bottom with some books or a ledge, it'll return to normal.

So whaddya think, the monitor EL KAPOOT or is the wiring inside loose? I just wanna make sure it's not fixable before I offer it to the Monitor Gods. I don't wanna throw away a monitor and then finding out I can fix it by replacing a wire. Wonder if GeekSquad will take a look at it with that coupon.

Quick drawing I did in paint. Hopefully this will explain a little bit more?

*EDIT*
I'm pretty sure it's the cable. I twist it around and the color returns. How hard is it to solder and fix this monitor?

Turn it off, not just on standby. Leave it for 10 minutes+ then start it up again.

Does that do it?

An open palm faced slap to the side of the monitor has worked for me in the past on monitors w/ finicky electron guns.

The picture is still crappy whether it's just standby or powered off.

does fiddling with the color temp do anything for the yellow haze?

Nope. Used to be where if I slapped the side, everything will revert back to normal. Now it's like that when I turn it on.

I've seen color problems with the cables on our workbench. They get like that from usage and being twisted and stuff. For monitors with the cable permanently attached, we toss the monitor.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to fix it. But I'd just get a new monitor, because I'm lazy like that.

I don't have $150 to buy another monitor, so I think I'll fiddle with it. I'll update you people on my venture into self electric shock. :D
