I have a regular Pentium 4- M laptop, and get about 3 hours full brightness w/ wifi card, just browsing internet/typing. Personally, I think all the fuss over a Centrino is exaggerated.

Centrino's the entire mobile platform (Chipset, CPU and WiFi card). Take any of these elements out and it's no longer Centrino Certified. Pentium M is the CPU used in Centrino notebooks... you're probably mistaking it with P4-M

Centrinos have the 1mb on board cache, its a pretty sweet processor. I've had a centrino and recently a P4M Dell 8500 and I definitely prefered the centrino.

pentium M != pentium 4M

centrino is a name that encompasses the pentium M AND intel's integrated wireless. without the wireless, it's not centrino.
