hmm are you suppose to use the wav out plugin or direct sound in winamp?

direct sound is much quieter than the wavout plugin. is direct sound suppose to sounds better? the only difference i can tell is the volume level

My personal recommendation is to use the MAD Winamp decoder which will give you much better sound quality.

That's a good decoder, but it is an input plugin. I've always used the wav output plugin, and it sounds the same to me as the directsound one.

Sorry I misread, thought we were talking about mp3 decoding, rather than output. Wavout should work just fine for you, differences should be negligable at best.
