Just installed it on my dad's computer at his office. It is a P3 500Mhz w/64Mb's of RAM. If he doesn't mind it there are 9 more waiting. They are only on 8 hours 5 days of the week, but a WU every 1 1/2 or 2 days isn't bad. Especially 10 of them:p

Your dad is a soft touch, he needs to get those folks working some overtime ;).

Any chance he'd be receptive to using power saving on the monitor and running the boxes 24 hours Monday through Friday? That would effectively triple your output. I personally believe hardware reliablility is increased if the boxes are not powered off assuming they will be accessed 16 hours later. Hard drives, fans and other components can fail when running, but the power on/power off sequence seems to be the culprit the majority of the time. Hard drives are so reliable now with 7+ years MTBF's that I don't have any qualms just letting them run

In any event, GREAT asslamination !! :D:D

My dad might not care about leaving the computers on 24/7, but his employees would have a fit. Of course I could make the point that the server has to be the most stable system in the office and it is on 24/7:p But then again it is running NT. I'll see about it at any rate;)

Why would the employees have a fit? On Win9x the password for the screensaver is probably more secure than the logon prompt. :)

BTW, good assilimation. :D

Actually they don't even have passwords to login, just usernames. Most of them are women (definatly no offence!) and they don't like leaving anything on that A) Takes electricity or B) Makes noise. I've tried convincing them that the computers don't take hardly any electricity and that no one is there to hear the fans anyway, but they cannot be converted:frown: Another thing that puzzles me is that they are Dell machines and the fans are really quiet. But I guess it all depends on your definition of a good cause;);)

Tell them that the output of those machines can be verified remotely.

There is a certain TA member who will stop at nothing in the quest for No. 1.

He has at his disposal a litter of kittens, some ziploc baggies and a microwave oven. They can figure out the rest. :disgust:

Those Dells, being PIII's, aren't drawing that much juice loafing along on SETI. You will spend most of your adult life trying and failing to convince women to do what you want. Perhaps you will be more successful than most, I hope so and good luck! :D
