Thought I had things all figured out, decided to sit back a few days and wait on the real-life verdict on the 7950gt silent from XFX was, then I find EVGA has a nice $25 rebate bringing their 7900GTX 512mb down to 373 after rebate. Hmm.. 319 vs. 373...

single slot vs dual slot
crappy heatsink vs good heatsink

I guess you know the GTX is faster than the 7950GT, no need to tell you that.

yea that's why I was thinking about the ~50 difference..

You think the EVGA cooler is crappy? I thought the GTX's has a good rep for a silent and nice cooler ..

The single slot cooler is crappy, not the gtx one. I'd go with the gtx too, or a x1900xtx which you can find for like 330 on newegg.

Go for the gtx. It's well worth the $50 buck. Perhaps the best $50 you'd ever spend on gears.

Not too interested in the 1900, cause either way I'd have to add an Accelero x2 to it, and there's more cost there .. The price is nice tho..

You need to brush up on your math skills buddy, x1900 + accelero x2 is still cheaper then the gtx ;)

Fixed.

edit - even though the GTX is faster, its better performance does not equal to 350~400 price premium of the 7900GTX. Compared to a X1900XT which is close to GTX performance, but MUCH cheaper.

unless the benches are rigged. the AT benches shows the x1900 xtx beating the 7900 gtx many times. of course when AA/AF are turned on.

and since they are going for 300 AR why not root for red.

Why not "root" for the best card for your application, period?

The OP provides 2 choices. 7950GT or 7900GTX. I'd say the latter.
