Ok. Linux newb. I am trying to run a Halflife Deathmatch Server on RedHat 7.0. Under root I create a halflife folder in /usr/local/games. I copy the file from the cd i burned into the file then run tar zxvf hlds_l_3108_full.tar.gz The file then unpacks everything into a directory named hlds_l within the halflife folder. Problem is that from the command line I can't cd into it from the halflife folder. What am I doing wrong? I can go into Gnome or KDE's file managers and view the folder normally, just not from the CLI. Any ideas?
Actually, I wouldn't care about this CLI interface, except for the fact that I can't get the program to run either. It will pop up and then close right away. Its open just long enough for me to see the outline of the terminal box.
At this point I am so stuck. Any help would be great. TIA...
