With this mod you can play HL2, Episode One, and Lost Coast with your wiimote and nunchuck. Check the media section for videos of it working. They have walkthroughs on how to get it working.

Note: you will need a sensor bar. But those are easy to make as they're just a bunch of powered IR LEDs wired in series which you can get at radioshack. The cable going to the wii only transmitts power, no data, so with a battery pack you can make a wireless one that'll work fine.

so far I haven't heard a good thing about using Wiimote in Wii FPS games, though I like the idea of using the Wiimote as a mouse in a htpc environment.

Does it work as if it's a mouse (by moving it horizontally as if it was on a table like a mouse) or do you point it at the screen and aim like a light gun?

None of those.

Turning the controller right turns your character right, and turning left turns left. Its very inefficient.

You can set the controls to do whatever you want. If you want to use the joystick to turn, then you can do that. You're also supposed to be able to change how far the reticle on the screen has to be to start turning. So you don't have to go near as far to the edge to turn if you don't like it that way. It's indeed just like a lightgun (like red steel).

Keep in mind that this is just a beta as well.

They should just make it work like a computer mouse. Have one button act as if you're lifting the mouse, basically by disabling the motion sensor until you release the button. Have the analog stick control movement (forward/backward and strafing).

The Wiimote is never going to be better than a mouse for controling fps games, so they should just emulate a mouse as close as possible.

interesting seeing the aiming reticule move independent from the pov.
a console novelty though, but i guess it bodes well for fps on the wii not totally sucking.

I just saw a trailer for Mass Effect. Pure suckage because of auto-aim. I refuse to play with such a sh1tty controller that it requires auto-aim to be playable. The game is almost playing itself. Pathetic.

Nothing will beat a mouse/keypad controller combo for efficiency and accuracy.
