When I get a lot of enemies on the screen I get a lot of lag, like I was playing with my old 9600xt. I have a x1800xt 512. This thing should run this game like a knife through butter, it's 2 years old! What's the problem? I hope my system will run elder scrolls.

Actually, that could easily happen with HL2:LC. Try turning down the settings, and if that doesn't help, the 2.0GHz CPU could actually be holding you back with lots of enemies. Source is actually quite CPU intense. Overclocking is good! :D

What about the variable frame rates? I usually get ~73 fps. Sometimes I get lower fps like ~ 55. Why the variability? Once I even got an 85.

I really just need to know if I need to send the card back. It works like this: load up lost coast, run benchmark, get 53 or so. Run it again. Get 73. Same thing everytime. First load low, second try get in the low 70s.
