i just beat hl2, and i have no idea what the hell it was about. i mean i know the general stuff, but what the hell does the ending mean?

I think it just means your mission is over and you are no longer needed. It was meant to give you a sense of nonclosure i suppose since technically you are hired to do your contract and not be attached to the mission.

ok sorry guys if i revealed anything. in any case, HL2 was a kick ass game, a bit too short though

Ditto. Most people that don't understand the ending or the story for that matter haven't played HL1. It's a sequel, just like a movie sequel. You can't go to T2 and say, "Robots wha? John Conner who? That doesn't make sense."

I thought the ending made perfect sense.

I just beat the game myself; 30 minutes ago, and I have no idea what the ending meant either. Cool way to end though. Than again, last time I beat HL1 was..................3 years ago....

I just finished it, and I thought the ending sucked (regardless of whether or not it fit into the storyline of how the first ended).
