Gabe said in yesterday's radio interview that the stolen portion was small and it was still on track for it's holiday release.

Somehow I doubt it takes 6 months to rewrite some code that is already done. I'm betting that getting this out by Xmas was going to be tight anyways so they might as well take advantage.

It sounds like they just need an excuse to delay. Fine with me. The original is still my all-time favorite game, but they've completely soured my desire for the next one at this point. I'll still get it most likely, but I won't be rushing out to pick it up the first week or anything. And I'd LOVE to see the tongue-lashing the manager for this project will receive from his superiors. The financial guys most definitely would have wanted a Christmas launch as sales would've been MUCH MUCH stronger.

As long as Thief 3 comes out on time (although I think it's still lacking an official release date) I'll be happy.

Not True
It will ship at Yuletide, it appears

SOURCES CLOSE to Valve Software tell us that despite wires ? including us ? picking up a Les Echos report that Half Life is delayed, it won't be. And it isn't.
Apparently Valve is close to issuing a statement about all of this ? and our sources maintain that it's still going to ship in the "holiday" period ? Yuletide to you and me.

What a fascinating tale this is all becoming.
