HL2 Deathmatch - do people still play it ?

I got HL2 Deathmatch from a steam deal a year ago, but never got round to downloading it. (2GB+ !!!) I'm thinking of (finally) downloading it, but do people still play it ?

Yes, but they mostly play on custom maps, and many of them are good, usually their layout is either poor or just lacking in details but generally speaking they're fun to play in, especially the lower gravity ones, but that's a personal preference.

I think the 2GB is if you download HL2 DM by itself, but if you already have HL2 (engine textures, etc) installed it is not that big of a download.

I rarely played it when it was new. CS and CS:S was the multiplayer for HL. DOD was good too.

Yeah, same for me. I played HL2 DM a few times, but I was horrible at it for some reason, so I never stuck with it.

This link is your friend to the "does anyone play XXXX" question. It looks like plenty of people still play Half-Life 2 deathmatch. As I write this, there are over 1,000 people playing, and the peak number within the last 48 hours is around 1,500.

This thread seems completely pointless. Not hard to fire up Steam and see how many people are playing it.
