HL2 + 9700Pro + AXP2500 @ 2145MHz + W2K = Good to go??

Yeah, I'd say you're fine. It seems as though HL2 plays well on 9700P cards and you could probably run at 1024x768 with a good bit of the eye candy turned on.

Definately a good question, though. I just upgraded my brother's system to a 2400+ (not OC'ed @ 2.0gh), 9800NP, and 512mb PC2100 RAM. I wonder how well HL2 would run on his system?

played yesterday with 9700 non pro and axp @2Ghz with 512megs of ram. Only thing I had to adjust was turning textures down to medium and it ran fine. on xp dont know what difference that'll make

Samde here, running at 1024x768 with most details up. It stutters a little bit outdoors, but otherwise iut plays like butter.

Yeah, I'm just afraid the 2400+ and RAM only running at 133 FSB would hinder performance a good bit. But after reading some of the other's results, I think it will be fine.
 
I run my game at 1280x1024x32 with most settings on medium except AF which is at 2x. I have a AXP 2000+ 512mb ram and a 9600xt. Nothing overclocked.
 
FU, be sure to check out this thread HERE. There are several with 9700 Pro's and systems slightly slower than yours who say the game runs fine.
 
AMD64 3000+/Asus K8V Del/1gb ram/ATI 9700 Pro

I am playing at 1280X1024 with all settings high and reflect world for water. I am getting decent FPS (anywhere from 30-100), the only time it really slows down is whenever I am near water or outside but still playable! ( 10-30 FPS but still playable )
