HL1 beat in 45min (?!?!?!)

Someone I know told me that on G4 TV they had someone play Half-Life, beginning to end, in 45min. Supposedly, they used certain secret paths between maps as shortcuts. But even if they skipped the whole beginning, there'd still be at least 45min worth of dialog I would think...

All I know is it took me like a month to beat that game, and now I'm pissed. :|

yes its possible. done using nonstop strafe jumping and a boat load of map exploits. and it wasn't a single run through. he obviously ran through level by level. but he didn't just sit down and play for 45 minutes and win. there was a lot of trial and error that obviously wasn't shown in the video.

I can help you. Are you stuck at the entrance where you first entered and the security guard was sitting at the desk saying that the email system was down? i.e. after the incident and trying to get back out?

There is a place to the right of the desk, down low, that you have to crawl through. Then you have to climb on a leaning computer cabinet to a hole in the vent system up near the ceiling. I got stumped by that stupid area for a long time myself. Let me know where you're stuck and I'm sure we can get you going. Well worth it.

I have seen the video before. I do know it is not a single segment run, but still some of the manuevers he did are still jaw-dropping.

No offense meant, of course, but what is the purpose in doing that? It just doesn't seem to have any redeemable benefits.

i have played hl about 10 times ;( and the fastest time i have finished in is in 3hrs 25min in one session. You guys should try some crazy japanese title. They have some freaken hard game and also crazy wacky storyline which makes the game hell alot better.

That was so dumb I still wonder to myself why Half-Life was game of the decade?

those were more like exploits instead of secret paths

still very cool though (if not a little pointless 😉)

Its nice if you really like the game. I enjoy playing familiar games over again to see how much I've mastered them. It used to be Final Fantasy. Now its Baldurs Gate 2 and sometimes FarCry or Serious Sam.

ahh, that reminds me of the guy that beat doom2 in like 30 minutes on Nightmare mode. now that is rediculous.

It just seems sad to me... Why play the game if you just skip past all the content to beat it faster than anyone else. It's like a masturbation contest.
