HL/CS graphics problems

I'm running a geforce2pro 32meg in win2k. I've installed all the patches for both HL and CS (I have GOTY edition and CS retail, plus blue shift). The game starts up fine, but after being in a level, it will not display the main menu any more. Once I've started a game, it gives me a black screen instead of the main menu when I press esc. Any ideas? (oh, I tried upping to the 23.11 nvidia drivers, no better)

Have you tried reinstalling HL/CS? That usually does the trick. Sometimes HL can do some REALLY weird things

Are you using D3D??? This problem happens when you use the it. I changed to OpenGL but I'm having another prob now... When I quit the game, I see my background with no icons and the machine freezes... So chose wich one of the 2 prob you prefer!

Anyway I know it is related to some nVidia driver, W2K or something... I know cause I tryed to fix this issue and never been able to. Tryed every nVidia driver available (EVERY ONE) tryed multiple configurations, never worked perfectly as when I was on win98SE. I now have WinXP. It corrected the problem a little, happens less often. But believe me, pretty hard to make HL work perfectly on W2k...

Thanks - switched to opengl and everything is cool (and I don't have your problem when I quit the game either).
