HL 2 stuck..

hey guys.. i know im new here, but im stuck (game error i believe) in "follow freeman".

From looking at the screen its a little hard to tell exactly what is going on around you. I would back up a little and look around, there were a couple times that you had to use the gravity gun to grab something in a room you couldn't walk into, like a plug.

there are no plugs.. the forcefield thing is in the way.. ic annot get into the hallway that has the 2 heads on pedistals.. "dead presidents" or whatever they were.. i can use gravity gun to pull the heads off, but that doesnt do anything....

Not to rub it in, but I just finished the game. Lots of fun. Keep trying. There were a couple of spots where I had to re-load at least a dozen times. Use the alt on the gravity gun to pull out the energy balls out of that energy stream (you can see it on your last pic). That should open up one of the force fields. Pull them out and shoot them elsewhere (not back at the energy stream).

Game error? Uh, no.

You need to backtrack and find where the forcefield is generated from.

i have spent 5 hours in this building.. there is nothing.. i sent saved game to someone already and they said there is something wrong with game.. last game i can go back to is highway 17 and i am not going to do that.. id rather quit playing than start from there... ive been a hardcore HL fan since 98' when HL 1 came out, but this is just plain stupid.... i can throw a grenade into the room from the hallway , since you can throw grenades and such through the blue fields...

you cannot suck the energy ball out of the stream through glass, you have to be in the room...

its a game error, unless someone can prove me otherwise... there is NOTHING else to do in this level.... since valve disabled clipping on this game (which i dont understand) ... I paid for the game, i should be able to walk through walls!!!!

game faqs is a walk through.. not a troubleshooter guide... the blue field simply there.. download my saved game files.. its a 1mb file wiht 5 games in it... run it and then get past it.... id like to see someone get past it.... i dont think it can be done..

See that door there in the one screenshot with Barny....... well, it only closes if you hit one of the red lasers inside, activating the guns. You would be stuck inside... unless you triggered them from outside, door closes and you're screwed!

You'll need to load a saved game prior to your screw up, you go into that room and get through it without activating the lasers... yes, it can be done. Now, quit wasting my bandwidth! ;-)

Just so you know.... don't think you're looking at a game error. Like I said, if you activated those lasers by grav gunning something in there.... door closes and you're effectively hosed.

And the room you can not enter in your last shot won't open up until the last generator is dead, but of course you can't do that for the reasons above and thus your game is over! ;-) Load a way back when saved game as mentioned and have at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That looks like the way beginning when you get your suit. Notice that there's no HUD yet.

well, you are correct. i threw a radiator into the room and hit the lasers i guess.... so I am super screwed cuz HL2 doesnt allow you to throw a radiator into a room that is "closed minded" and the only way that you can trigger the lasers is with your body... I guess i didnt read the owners manual that said "dont throw items into rooms with doors.. they might close on you and your stuck OUTSIDE the room FOREVER!!!!!!"

I DONT HAVE A PRIOR SAVED GAME>. Well , I do, and its back at highway 17..... Thank GOD that HL2 decided only to save the last 5 or so games.. might fill up my 80gb hard drive with saved games if they allowed more than 5...

Its an error.. Valve is telling me how i have to play the game.. am i wrong? they are telling me that i HAVE to enter the room and i HAVE to hit the laser with my body, and not a RADIATOR that i carried with me with gravity gun... Thank you VALVE.. for orchestrating the game for me... They may as well send a walkthrough with the game so you cant think on your own... GOD forbid you can do what you want AFTER you pay 80.00 for the game!!!!

That is the problem.. i dont have one ..... cuz valve decided for me that i can only have 5 saved games.... cuz it might overload my hard drive....

Your saved game file does not include a save point anywhere near the point you are talking about. I was going to load it up and see if I could get through it. I don't really remember any rooms that might have acted like that.

Mybe you can use a cheat (walk thru walls maybe) to get back to where you need to be.

haha. you are blaming valve because you screwed up? yes, there is a room guarded by security beams that seals itself if one is tripped, regardless of what tripped it. quit putting it on valve because you screwed up, i've never seen anyone else have this problem before. and learn how to quicksave because by the sounds of it you'll probably screw up again! this is hilarious, i've never seen someone throw a fit like this because of a video game, usually it's the man to blame for keeping someone out of a job or whatever! great stuff!

igowerf, yes, you can take radiators off wall..that is the best part.. SMOKING dudes with radiators!!! best part of game..

i keep one on me as much as i can.. i carry it everywhere when i can!!! .. try it, its great!!!

What are you talking about with the saved games? You can save as often as you want.

Don't blame Valve because you didn't save the game.

romad10, i think you are missing the point....the point of that room was to NOT hit the lasers - else it shuts the room , securing the room so you CANNOT destroy the generator - therefor forcing you to reload the game )(cant go any further, might as well die). By throwing a radioator in there and the lasers detecting it, you essentially locked yourself out, instead of in(if you locked yourself in, you'd be dead anyway)

i'm not missing the point. they scripted a puzzle into the game that you weren't smart enough to figure out. on top of that you didn't save often enough to go back and do it over. i assiged quicksave to f5 and every so often i did a save to avoid problems like this.

do this then.. hit quick save 20 times and tell me how far back you can go with your saved games... youll see what i mean..

i just think its dumb.. that the doors lock and even if you make it to the lasers to disable them, once you enable them, you cant disable the guns either..

they should make a patch, so you have to enter the room in order to trip the lasers.. not by throwing a radiator into the room....

you sure aren't making any progress now are you? and good luck with not dying, the room is designed as a killbox. the whole point of the room is not to trip the beams PERIOD, whether it's with your body or something else. there isn't a need for a patch, learn how to save. if you've filled up your quicksave slots since you locked yourself out of the room it's not surprising you couldn't get in there in the first place.

it's supposed to be difficult, not just walk into room, shoot things, walk into next room. if that was all it was there'd be no point in having to blow up the generator in the first place, you would just walk around shooting things.
