HL 2 install bug...

I get through all 5 CDs in the install and get an error about "unable to open" some .tga file. Fine, then i try through steam and get an unable to open error. WTF? Any suggestions? Grazie.

Never heard of this one.

When you installed HL2 off of the CDs did you select HL2 only, or HL2 and CS:S? If you installed HL2 only, you might try a re-install installing both and then deleting the CS:S later if it doesn't interest you.

You try what through Steam? You downloaded the installation through Steam and get the same error?

Does Steam tell you that the installation is 100% complete?

Yes, both via CD and steam i get similar errors and no install. I have played HL2 on two separate PCs. Im trying to get it working on PC #2 (i have played on this a machine before) in anticipation of Lost Coast and i cant even do that, yet i played on this PC not long ago. To be honest im thoroughly confused. I will post some screens in a second.

PlasticJesus is right about installing BOTH HL2 and CSS , that will elimate your.tga file read error.
