Hive Error

I have recently built a new computer and I am in the process of setting it up with Win2k and all of my software. Twice now I have had to trash the whole install due to a Hive error similar to the one in this thread here:
Hive error in W2k?
I was hoping that someone could either shed some further light on this problem or point out to me where to find technical literature from Microsoft or someone which outlines what the problem is, why it is, if it will be fixed, how to fix it, etc. I tried the fix on the system file that was given in the other thread and no luck. My system specs are below if this helps at all:

EPOX 8K7A
Tbird 1000/266
Radeon LE
NIC 10/100
Maxtor Plus 60 (60 gig)
Lite-on 12x/10x/32x
DVD 10x

Thanks in advance for any help.

cut and paste from my response

The problem is with win2k. It has problem with fast HD and cpus. there are three solutions
1) Install win2k in non -ACPI mode(press F5 when it starts the installation and choose standard PC)
2) Install service pack 2 for win 2k immediately after you install win2k.(its beta but you should be able to find it)
3) There is a hot fix-shutdown patch- sorry I don't have link

For more info search the forums for "ACPI" or shutdown patch etc.

Addition:
You can try to slipstream sp2 into win2k installation CD. see varius threads in this forum. also see here. So you don't have to install sp2.
I also used to get those errors before but I did the slipstream and now everything is fine..

zzzz, thanks for the suggestion, however, on both occasions I had immediately installed the SP2 after the Win2k Install, although it had not beeen slip streamed and I was still haveing the problem. If you have any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I was hoping that maybe this problem had been well documented somewhere on the microsoft support site but I have not been able to any documentation on it at all except, "If you receive the following error please contact you Administrator immediately." How useful is that.... If anyone can provide more information on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

did you try to install in standard mode? (non-ACPI)
When installing win2k, press F5 ( when it prompts to press F6 for additional storage devices) and then choose standard PC.
