I saw that. I've spoken to people who don't quite get the problem. I remember a Chinese friend asking what's the problem with a store in Hong Kong doing something similar. Yet it's like, how do you think people in China would react to a Chez Tojo or Cafe Unit 731? People simply need to put it into perspective.

In all honesty I don't really have a problem with themed restaurants with controversial names. As long as the place isn't used as a meeting spot to encourage hate; this is nothing more than part of our history.

We have two clubs in Toronto called "the social" (where welfare is the club theme - written in large letters across one wall) and "republik" (a socialist russia themed club).

The owner got enough heat that he's already taken it down.
'Hitler' restaurant to change name

Thu Aug 24, 9:54 AM ET

BOMBAY, India - The owner of a restaurant named after Adolf Hitler said Thursday he will change its name because it angered so many people.

Puneet Sablok said he would remove Hitler's name and the Nazi swastika from billboards and the menu. He had said the restaurant's name ? "Hitler's Cross" ? and symbols were only meant to attract attention.

Sablok made the decision after meeting with members of Bombay's small Jewish community.

"Once they told me how upset they were with the name, I decided to change it," he said. "I don't want to do business by hurting people."

Sablok said he had not yet decided on a new name.
I wouldn't eat in his restaurant. The guy sounds like too much of of a social retard to comprehend the significance of public health and safety laws, either.

Maybe the communist mindset is still prevalent there? They were quite close to Russia at one time.

Yeah, the link says that the name was changed but it still shows that the pro-Hitler thinking exists there which is a bit shocking.

No different than having a Stalin- or a Mao-themed restaurant IMO. They each murdered at least twice as many as Hitler did.

I don't think it's "Pro-Hitler".
